Do I need a library card?

Yes. Eventually you will need to use your library card for a variety of services which includes research via the web, Circulation, Electronic Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan. On the reverse of your FIU Panthercard there is a barcode label. This barcode label acts as your library card, and the 14-digit number on the back is required for remote access to electronic databases.

How can I get access to the FIU Library from my home or work computer?

You will need to have an Internet provider to access the FIU Library. In order to access all databases and research tools located within the FIU Library's database, you will need to "connect from home" on the library home page.

Does the FIU Library have full text materials available on the web?

Some full text journals are available from the Library's electronic journals.. However, many publishers do not allow their journals to be available on the web yet. In these cases, you will need to seek assistance from your nearest library or through the ILL Main Menu to see if the material you need is owned locally. Please note: SFX now provides easy access to full text articles.

If you are unable to visit the Library, you may submit a question to the Florida Distance Learning Reference & Referral Center or to the FIU Ask-A-Librarian service.
