Coach Gwydir on Kendra: “Kendra has the greatest array of pitches of anyone on our staff. All of her pitches move and she’s pinpoint accurate when she’s on. Last year I think she really made great strides in becoming a legitimate Division I pitcher. She almost single-handedly won some games for us. Offensively, she came in and got a big pinch hit for us as well. It will be a great plus this year with her having two years under her belt because now she’s an established pitcher instead of somebody trying to prove herself.” One of three team captains. 2002: Appeared in 36 games including 20 starts and five complete outings…Posted an 8-8 record to go along with FIU’s second-lowest ERA at 1.72…Logged 142.1 innings – the second most on the team…Tossed her first career shut out and first complete game against Wichita State (3/2), striking out six batters and allowing only three hits and one walk in the win…Pitched her second shut out against Iowa (3/22), allowing only two hits and fanning six…Struck out a career-high 11 batters against Florida Atlantic (2/24)…At one point of the season, tossed over 16 innings without allowing an earned run…Combined with the pitching staff to post seven shutouts…Her 36 appearances is the second-most ever by a Golden Panther in a single season. 2001: Appeared in 14 games, starting two…In her first collegiate appearance against South Florida (1/27), pitched the final inning-and-a-third and held USF scoreless to earn the win. High School: Named first-team all-league pitcher her junior and senior seasons at Rex Putnam High School in Portland, Ore…Earned third-team all-state honors as a senior and honorable mention accolades her junior year…Also played first base in high school and was named first-team all-league in 1998, as well as first-team utility player in 1997…Named softball MVP as a juinor and senior…Lettered four years in softball and basketball and three in volleyball…Voted Putnam’s Most Athletic Student her senior year…Earned MVP honors in basketball as a freshman and a senior to go along with the title of volleyball MVP as a senior…A Marine and Naval Scholar-Athlete for the 2000 school year.
