Coach Gwydir on Amber: “Amber is a solid and steady player. Although she’s probably going to bat in the eighth spot, she could bat clean up as well. She’s strong and gifted athletically. She’s a positive team player, and I think she’s going to be effective in right field this year.”

2002 at East Carolina: Saw minimal action in the pitching circle and spent the majority of her playing time in right field…Made five appearances as a pitcher, compiling a 0-1 record with a 3.68 ERA…Batted .270 (30-for-111) with three home runs… Knocked one out of the park and drove in three runs vs. Liberty (4/25)…Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI against Houston (4/7). 2001 at East Carolina: Started 24 contests in the outfield and two games in the pitcher’s circle...Blasted her first collegiate home run to go along with two RBI vs. Campbell (4/10)…Pitched 19.2 innings for a 2-0 record as a pitcher.

High School: A four-year letterwinner at University High School ... Named first-team All-Broward County by the Miami Herald…Was a two-time team MVP and all-conference performer ... Had her No. 11 jersey retired by the school, becoming the first female student-athlete in school history to accomplish that feat…Named Female Athlete of the Year as a senior…Pitched five no-hitters including a perfect game…Totaled 889 strikeouts in her high school career…As a senior, batted .593 to go along with 36 RBI, 20 runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Personal: Born Amber Caroline Gill on Oct. 20, 1981, in Plantation, Fla…One of two daughters of Scott and Debra Gill…Majoring in interior design.
