Head Coach: Cindy Russo
Alma Mater:
Old Dominion, 1975

FIU Women's Basketball has thrived under the leadership of head coach Cindy Russo. The Golden Panthers have had 21 consecutive winning seasons, including 16 of the past 18 with at least 20 victories. Russo has led her teams to six NCAA Division I Tournament berths, three postseason NITs while winning eight regular-season league titles and seven tournament crowns in the Trans America and Sun Belt Conferences. Head Coach: Jessica Carter
Alma Mater:
Maryland-Eastern Shore, 1992

Head coach Jessica Carter oversees the entire operation of six FIU teams: men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor track and field and men's and women's outdoor track and field. Despite being one of only a handful of women to be coaching both women's and men's teams, Carter has the competitive talent and experience necessary to move the program among the elite of the Sun Belt Conference, and beyond. Head Coach: David Pezzino
Alma Mater:
Saint Thomas, 1997

Possibly one of the most successful programs at FIU has been women's golf, now the charge of head coach David Pezzino.  Golden Panthers golf first made a name for itself back in 1973 when now LPGA Hall of Famer Pat Bradley represented FIU at numerous NCAA Division I tournaments. Now, some 30 years later, FIU female golfers continue to make names for themselves on the professional tour. (more)

 
Head Coach: Everton Edwards
Alma Mater:
Florida International, 1982

Head Coach Everton Edwards started the program from scratch back in 1985 and since that time, has built the Golden Panthers into one of the top programs of the Sun Belt Conference. His 1993 squad become the first team in school history to win an NCAA Division I first-round match, with a 3-2 penalty-kick victory over Duke. Edwards' teams have also won league titles in both the Sun Belt and Atlantic Sun. (more)

Head Coach: Kim Gwydir
Alma Mater:
Adelphi, 1988

In just five years time, the FIU softball team has become known as one of the top programs in the Sun Belt Conference. Gwydir and her teams have gone against all takers, playing such nationally-ranked softball powers as UCLA, Cal State-Fullerton, Fresno State, UNLV, Florida State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Oklahoma and South Florida. Head Coach: Noemi Zaharia
Alma Mater:
Florida Atlantic, 199

FIU's newest sport is women's swimming, schedule for its inaugural season in the winter of 2003-04. Leading the Golden Panthers is  former All-American and Olympic medal winner Noemi Zaharia. She competed at both the 1988 and '92 Olympic Games, winning the silver medal in the 400
individual medley and bronze in the 200 IM in 1988. (more)

Head Coach: Ronni Bernstein
Alma Mater:
Miami (Fla.), 1988

Ronni Bernstein is more than just head coach of the Golden Panthers tennis program, she's a role model. A four-year collegiate All-American in both singles and doubles and a touring professional, Bernstein's FIU teams have advance to the last two NCAA Tournaments. Last year, the Golden Panthers team finished with a No. 38 national ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. (more)

Head Coach: Cookie Stevens
Alma Mater:
Florida International, 1981

Head Coach Cookie Stevens has the Golden Panthers headed in the right direction. In 2001, the FIU posted an impressive 24-8 record, afterwhich, she accepted two Coach of the Year honors. Stevens, who earned two varsity letters and was named Most Valuable Player while attending San Diego State University, brought an impressive resume to FIU that included eight state and two junior college national championships over an 18 year stint at Miami-Dade C.C.
