cross country runner who is also expected be the track teams'
best distance runner both indoors and outdoors…can run anywhere
from 800 to 5,000 meters…an outstanding high school distance
runner who went away to the military and enrolled at FIU from
Miami-Dade C.C. just prior to last indoor season…ran all
seven cross country meets last fall, winning both the FIU and
Miami Invitationals…finished second at the prestigious Walt
Disney World Classic (10/6), helping FIU to the team title…posted
his personal-best 8k time of 25:10 at that same meet which ranks
as the fifth-fastest time in school history…ended eighth
at the Sun Belt Conference meet which earned him all-conference
recognition…with that full season of cross country experience
under his belt, expected to have successful track seasons…his
indoor times last year in the 800m (1:54.20), 3,000m (8:39.29)
and mile runs (4:13.98) all led the team and ranked among the
top 10 in conference competition…earned indoor all-conference
recognition with a third-place showing in the mile…led the
outdoor team with times in the 800m (1:52.84), 1,500m (3:53.69)
and the 3,000m (8:44.75)…ran track and cross country for
three years in high school…1991 state cross country champion
and state champ in the 1,600m and 3,200m in 1992.
