Governor meets with university contingent during FIU Day

Wearing his FIU tie, Gov. Jeb Bush met with FIU President Modesto A. Maidique and members of the FIU Board of Trustees on Wed., March 9, during the fourth annual FIU Day in Tallahassee.

Maidique was joined in Tallahassee on the second day of the 60-day legislative session by students, administrators and trustees for meetings with legislators about the university’s priority issues: competitive faculty and staff salaries, fair enrollment-growth funding and FIU’s share of the educational facilities trust fund.

The Alumni Association hosted a reception in the Governor’s Club, followed by a private dinner for trustees and legislative leaders.

“FIU students were clearly the stars of the day,” reported FIU Vice Provost for Governmental Relations Steve Sauls.
