Public Health alumni celebrate new Health & Life Science Building

More than 50 alumni turned out on March 10 to mix and mingle at the Robert R. Stempel School of Public Health alumni reception. Attendees enjoyed wine and cheese, a tour of both Health & Life Science Buildings and a presentation from Dean Dev Pathak. The event was held at the newly dedicated Health & Life Science Building II at FIU-University Park.

It was a great mix of alumni, according to FIU Alumni Association Senior Director of Membership Duane Wiles.

“We had alumni from every decade represented at the reception,” said Wiles. “Two women who had graduated in the early ‘90s saw one another for the very first time since graduation. It was that kind of an event -- everyone had a chance to catch up on their life and career news.”

Wiles said many alumni in attendance expressed amazement at the growth in the institution and pride in the fact that their school now had its own building.
