Take Stock in Children, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides deserving low-income children in Florida with four-year college (or vocational-technical) scholarships and an adult mentor who meet with the student every week until they graduate. Students are generally selected at the beginning of the 7th grade and sign contracts promising to remain drug- and crime-free, maintain good grades, and exhibit exemplary behavior.

Take Stock in Children operates through local partnerships with non-profit agencies and school systems. The organization currently serves more than 7,000 students throughout the state and has students in every one of Florida’s 67 counties.
Governed by a Board of Directors comprised of Florida's top government, business, civic and educational leaders, Take Stock has gained substantial financial support from both the public and private sectors.

THE POSITION (RESPONSIBILITIES):

The major duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Manage all of the financial resources and obligations of Take Stock in Children through the state (corporate) office.
  • Develop and manage budget, forecasts and variance reports for the state office and local offices that are under the auspices of the state office.
  • Design and produce financial reports for management, sponsors and the Board of Directors.
  • Manage tax-exempt certification and other state-mandated reporting as well as insurance renewals.
  • Facilitate the annual independent financial audit process and prepare necessary documentation for organization's tax return(s).
  • Maintain control over general ledger including setting up accounts and vendors, reconciliations and overall maintenance.
  • Manage employee payroll to ensure timely and accurate distribution of compensation and benefits.
  • Supervise the Accounting Specialist including training, task assignment and prioritization, and performance evaluations. Guide and facilitate finance staff in each of the local county programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Fully qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Familiarity with computerized accounting software including Blackbaud Accounting for Nonprofits, Raiser’s Edge and Quickbooks Pro.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in preparation, analysis and evaluation of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and think creatively in response to growth and change within the organization.
  • Experience setting up new accounting systems.
  • Effective verbal, presentation and written communication skills. Detail oriented with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Availability for occasional in-state travel.

EDUCATION:
An undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting is required.

COMPENSATION:
Candidate’s compensation level to be determined based on education and experience.

JOB LISTING #2: Well established public relations company. The position is an immediate opening for an account supervisor in the firm’s Atlanta branch.

THE POSITION (RESPONSIBILITIES):
Supervisor will be a key member of the consumer marketing practice working on existing and new business opportunities. He or she will work closely with VP providing team supervision, client counsel and support, and leading strategic plan development. The major duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Team supervision, coaching and skills development
  • Effective financial management of accounts
  • Senior counselor to clients
  • Strategic planning
  • Measuring and reporting program deliverables and successes
  • Assists with overall practice management and growth

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Seven to 10 years of PR-specific experience, including agency background and work on major national or international brands.
  • Must have experience managing staff and demonstrated effective financial management of large consumer marketing initiatives.
    • Strong consumer brand experience.
  • Experience in retail, consumer electronics, NASCAR and minority marketing a plus.
