March 9 is FIU Day in Tallahassee

Members of the FIU community will converge on the state capitol on Wed., March 9, for the second annual FIU Day in Tallahassee. The event will coincide with the kick-off of the 2005 legislative session, which begins the day before.

FIU President Modesto A. Maidique and members of the Board of Trustees are expected to meet with House and Senate leaders to advocate on behalf on the University's budget request for funding the 2005-'06 school year. FIU's Office of Alumni Relations will host a reception at the Governor's Club for legislators and alumni living in Tallahassee.

Much is at stake this year, including the Board of Governor's request for $27 million in new funds to support university operations and $27 million for new facilities.

To keep up with these and other critical issues affecting FIU, alumni are encouraged to visit FIU's Governmental Relations website. It's important for legislators to hear your loud and proud support of FIU.
