CRI fund-raiser to feature renowned musicologist

Cristobal Diaz-Ayala, a respected musicologist, will be the featured speaker at a Cuban Research Institute (CRI) fund-raising lecture on Sun., March 20, at 5 p.m. at FIU-University Park's Graham Center Ballrooms. The illustrated lecture, which will be delivered in Spanish, is titled, "El arte de la musica: La historia de la discografia cubana a traves de las caratulas" ("The Art of Music: The history of Cuban music through album covers").

A rum and rhumba reception will follow the lecture.

Tickets to the event are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Proceeds from the event will provide greater access and scholarship of the Diaz-Ayala Cuban and Latin American Popular Music Collection (which resides in the FIU Library thanks to Mr. Diaz-Ayala's gracious donation) and the programs of CRI.

To purchase your tickets, please send a check or money order to: Cuban Research Institute, Cuban Music Event, University Park, DM 363, Miami, FL 33199.
