Continuing and Professional Studies

Don’t miss the second edition of the new Provost Lecture Series taking place in the Wellington community of Palm Beach on Tues., July 20, at 6:30 pm. Two great speakers are on tap for this event.

The first presenter, Robert J. Trenschel, D.O., M.P.H., has been an integral part of the Palm Beach County Health Department (PBCHD) for almost 10 years. Trenschel currently holds the post of Clinical Services director with the PBCHD, the largest county health department in Florida. An active member of several osteopathic professional associations, he has been recognized by the American Osteopathic College of Occupational and Preventive Medicine with a Murray Goldstein Lecture Award for his lecture on "Healthy People 2010."

The second featured speaker is Virginia H. McCoy, Ph.D., a graduate studies professor at FIU's Dr. Robert R. Stempel School of Public Health and former department chairperson. She has been a part of the FIU family since 1986 and through the years has provided a steadfast commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom. Call 305-348-5669 to reserve your seat today.

The Legal Studies Institute (LSI) is also offering, “Seminario de Inmigración de los EE.UU,” a course taught in Spanish that deals with immigration laws in the United States. This is an excellent course for lawyers, professionals and any individual with an interest in learning and understanding the laws of immigration in the U.S. This course is launching for the first time on July 10 in FIU’s new Pines Center, located at 17195 Sheridan Street in Broward County. It is also available via the Internet. For more information on this or any other LSI program, please call 305-348-2491.
