The Honors Excellence Lecture: Robert A. Stern: Yale School of Architecture Dean Robert A. Sterns will give a lecture on “The Architecture of Education: Receptacles of Tradition and Knowledge.” Stern is a practicing architect and author of numerous books. His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries and universities and is in permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Denver Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. The lecture will be at the Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture Auditorium at University Park at 7 p.m.

FIU Theater performance: FIU’s Theater program will stage Picasso at the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin Oct. 9 – 11 and Oct. 16 – 19. Written by the popular movie star, this award-winning, clever comic hit is bursting with profound social commentary, hilarious chance meetings and an array of fascinating characters. Wolfsonian-FIU Lecture:
"On the Air: Radio, Television and WWII Propaganda": Gerd Horten, associate professor of history at Concordia University in Oregon, will discuss the incorporation of propaganda into mainstream media during WWII. Celebrity Golf Tournament:

The Nation Transnational:
The 5th CRI Conference on Cuban and Cuban-American Studies: The Cuban Research Institute at FIU continues the tradition of convening every 18 months scholars from around the world engaged in the study of Cuba and Cuban-Americans. Under the theme “The Nation Transnational” over 150 participants in 37 panels will address a broad range of topics, from art and literature to history and politics. Special activities include a multimedia presentation of Cristóbal Díaz Ayala´s Encyclopedic Discography of Cuban Music, 1925-1960 on Oct. 29 and a Salute to the Music of Cuba with guitarist Manuel Barrueco on Oct. 30.
