| Applying
To FIU: Policy on Credit by Examination |
|
Florida International University
recognizes several programs that allow students to receive
college credit, accelerating their collegiate studies. These
programs are: Advanced Placement (AP), International
Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination
Program (CLEP) and British Bases
A-Levels (GCE A-Levels).
Students must have official exam results sent directly to
the Office of Admissions, prior to enrollment.
Advanced Placement
(AP) BACK

Students who have participated in
the AP program in high school and receive a score
of three or higher may receive credit in the appropriate
subject area. Scores must be submitted prior to
enrollment for consideration. Students should consult
their high school guidance counselor or contact
the Educational Testing Service (ETS) for additional
information. Listed below is a table outlining
the AP credit awarding policy.

International
Baccalaureate (IB) BACK

Students who have participated
in the IB program in high school may recieve
credit in the appropriate subject area. You
may be awarded college credit for exam scores
of four or higher in the Higher level exams
and credit for scores of five or higher in
the Subsidiary level exams. Scores must be
submitted prior to enrollment for consideration.

College-Level
Examination Program (CLEP) BACK

Students who have taken examinations
(General Examination or Subject Examination)
and scores at the 50th percentile or higher
may be awarded credit. Scores must be submitted
prior to enrollment for consideration. Since
CLEP is regarded as transfer credit, the maximum
number of hours transferable is 45 semester
hours. Not more than six semester hours will
be transferred in each of the five areas of
the General Examination (english, humanities,
mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences/history).
