Mission Statement

The Employee & Labor Relations Staff is committed to proactively maintaining and enhancing a positive working environment for all Florida International University employees. Through collaboration and cooperation, we offer empowerment for the employee, support for the administration and fact-based responses and recommendations consistent with the University's policies.

How can we help?
The Employee & Labor Relations Department:
  • Assist with compliance of Federal and State laws, Collective Bargaining Agreements, University policies and procedures.
  • Provide interpretations for University policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and applicable laws.
  • Approve and monitors access to the Sick Leave Pool and Catastrophic Pool.
  • Provide workshops to the University community to communicate and inform employees of issues affecting employment.
  • Consult and advise management regarding employee relations and progressive discipline issues.
  • Assist with the Employment Separation Process.
