Brief Description of the Program:

        The Graduate Program in Architecture prepares students for research and practice in the field of architecture. Its intensive focus on explorations in design is approached through investigations of architecture of tropical and subtropical Americas, the history and theory of architecture, and advanced building systems technologies. With the successful completion of the Internship Development Program and the Architectural Registration Examination, graduates with the first professional degree from the School of Architecture are prepared to excel in their careers as architects in their respective communities. The course of study leading to the first professional Master of Architecture degree is accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB.)


Application Requirements:
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale
  • A combined score of 1000 on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) verbal and quantitative test or
  • A graduate degree from an accredited institution
  • In addition to the university requirements, students must submit a brief portfolio of creative work to the School of Architecture Graduate Admissions Committee

Additional Requirements for International Students:
  • Foreign graduate applicants are accepted subject to space and fiscal limitations
  • Must be academically eligible for further study in their own country
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by presenting a minimum score of 550 or higher paper-based and a minimum score of 213 computer-based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree from an institution within the United States or other English speaking countries are not required to submit TOEFL
