Brief Description of the Program:

       The Masters of Arts in Teaching: Varying Exceptionalities/ESOL is for students holding a baccalaureate degree in an area other than education. It provides the student with entry level skills for teaching students with mild disabilities and the appropriate course work to be certifiable in Varying Exceptionalities. In addition, several advanced theory and research courses are required.


Application Requirements:

  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher GPA in junior and senior year
  • A baccalaureate degree
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one from an academic sources and one from work or volunteer experience)
  • Well written autobiographical statement.
  • A Passing CLAST Score
It should be understood that meeting minimal qualifications DOES NOT automatically ensure acceptance. Candidates are admitted by action of the Department's Graduate Admissions Committee.

Additional Requirements for International Students:

  • Foreign students must demonstrate a TOEFL score of at least 500.
