Brief Description of the Program:

FIU’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree program in Adult Education and Human Resource Development (AE/HRD) is designed to serve the advanced graduate study needs of a wide range of professionals. The program prepares them to develop, facilitate, and manage programs for a wide range of adults in arenas such as post-secondary public and private education, business and industry, the military, government agencies, and health care. Instructional technology management, the professorate, performance and HRD consulting, workforce development administration, and knowledge management are but a few of the career arenas open to graduates. Professionals in these roles typically operate in local and world-wide settings as diverse as corporate universities, adult and community education centers, community and social service organizations, post-secondary institutions, religious organizations, hospitals and clinics, and external consulting organizations.

Graduates in AE/HRD are prepared to produce knowledge, interpret research, and manage and evaluate adult learning programs and projects in contexts of interest to them. The Ed.D. in AE/HRD includes optional specializations in International, Intercultural Development Education (IIDE) and Vocational-Technical Education Leadership (VTEL), both available at the University Park Campus. In sum, the Ed.D. program in Adult Education and Human Resource Development is directed toward the facilitation of individual, organizational, and career development of adults in the U.S. and around the world.

Courses are offered for the Ed.D. in Adult Education and Human Resource Development in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties during evening hours. Everything possible is done to provide courses at the locations most convenient to students. The IIDE and VTEL specialization courses are offered at the University Park Campus in Miami-Dade County.

Further information and a general program of study may be found on the program’s website.
