Brief Description of the Program:

        The Master of Science in Forensic Science is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for careers in forensic science laboratories. The program may also be suitable preparation for doctoral instruction in several disciplines. This is primarily a research degree, emphasizing critical thinking through research, presentation, and publication on each student's original problem. Students must first be admitted to the university and to the program.


Application Requirements:

To be admitted into the Master's degree program in Forensic Science, a student must:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a natural science from an accredited college or university.*
  • Have a 3.0/4.0 average or higher during the last two years of the undergraduate program and a combined score (verbal and quantitative) of 1000 or higher on the Graduate Record Exam.
  • Two letters of recommendation of the student's academic potential.
  • Be accepted by a faculty sponsor.
  • Receive approval from the Departmental Graduate Committee.

* A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry or Biology is the preferred degree.

Additional Requirements for International Students:
  • Foreign students whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and obtain a score of 550 or higher.
  • Certification of financial ability.
  • Medical insurance.
