Brief Description of the Program:

        The purpose of the Master of Science in Environmental Studies is to train students for work in the areas of environmental policy, natural resource science and management, and sustainable development, with particular focus on the South Florida region, the Caribbean Basin, and Latin America. An emphasis of the program is the cultural and political milieu in which environmental issues of the region are embedded. The program is, thus, interdisciplinary in nature, and emphasizes both natural sciences and social sciences of the environment. Students will be encouraged to take advantage of University-wide resources, programs, and courses in environmental issues, such as those in Public Administration, International Relations, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology/Anthropology.


Application Requirements:
  • Complete a graduate application online with application fee of $25.
  • An official copy of all academic transcripts in English.
  • An official copy of GRE scores (The department requires a combined score of 1000 or greater, verbal + quantitative sections).
  • the department must also receive 3 letters of recommendation and a letter of intent, describing the specific area of study you plan to pursue.

Additional Requirements for International Students:
  • Foreign graduate applicants are accepted subject to space and fiscal limitations
  • Must be academically eligible for further study in their own country
  • An official coy of TOEFL scores, if applicable (The department requires a 550(paper)/213(computer) or higher).
