Brief Description of the Program:
Public
health is the concerted efforts of a whole society to assure that all
persons can live under conditions conducive to the maintenance of good
health.
The
practice of disease prevention and health promotion is a
long-established concept, which must continually evolve to keep pace
with an ever-changing society. Historically, many health improvements
affecting the American public have come as a direct result of
successfully implemented public health measures, e.g., development of
the polio vaccine, improvements in pre-natal, post-natal, and maternal
health to decrease infant mortality.
