Brief Description of the Program:

        A Master of Science in Environmental Engineering is available to students interested in Environmental Engineering. The program is designed to provide graduate students with in depth knowledge of the major priority environmental engineering areas, permitting them to pursue state-of- the-art research that provides the basis for a successful professional career. The curriculum has a common core of courses but is flexible to permit interdisciplinary studies and research, if so desired. A proposed program of studies will be developed together with the student at the time of admission or no later than the end of the first semester of full registration. The applicant should hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural sciences, or a related field. Students who do not meet all stated criteria as developed by the faculty may be considered for admission if they complete the required prerequisites and satisfy any undergraduate deficiencies. A student must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 30 semester credits of acceptable graduate courses and either a master thesis or an engineering project.

Application Requirements:

  • A student seeking admission into Environmental Engineering graduate program must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • All graduate applicants, regardless of previous grade point average or degrees, are required to submit their GRE (general) scores.
  • An applicant must present either a "B" average in upper level undergraduate work, or
  • A combined score of 1000 or higher on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or
  • A graduate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three letters of recommendation in the forms provided by the department.
  • A statement of objective in which the intended concentration must be clearly stated.


Additional Requirements for International Students:

  • Foreign students seeking admission must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering from an institution recognized in its own country as preparing students for further study at the graduate level.
  • Foreign students must submit a TOEFL score of 500 or higher.
