My research activities in our laboratory include investigations
of interactions that lithium and estrogens present in
regulating protein synthesis involved in learning and
memory mechanisms. Experiments are being performed at
the organismal and cellular level, using surgical, primary
cell culture, immunohisto/cytochemical, Western blot,
RT-PCR and behavioral task methods. The long term goal
of these studies is to better understand the array of
proteins involved in learning and memory and the role
that interacting antidepressants and hormones play in
the process.

Two phase-contrast images of mixed primary cultures
of hippocampal cells harvested from E15 C57Bl6 mice
grown 8 days in culture (Thanks to Dr. L. Kim).
