The 200 Scholarship, A Society of Professional Women, Inc., was an organization of Dade county women in the different professions that established a scholarship program for women students at FIU who demonstrate a strong ability and financial need.
Application Criteria and Procedures
The 200 Scholarship, A Society of Professional Women, Inc., was an organization of Dade county women in the different professions that established a scholarship program for women students at FIU who demonstrate a strong ability and financial need. The award recognizes that women have to face multiple barriers to further their education. This scholarship is intended to enable women students to focus their attention mainly on education and career goals.
The Women’s Studies Center selects the award winner. Applicants must meet the criteria below. Selection for the next recipient of this award will be done in Spring 2008 for Fall 2008.
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be female, residents of South Florida and U.S. citizens.
Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Undergraduate with a minimum of one prior semester at FIU and a full year of remaining studies at the inception of the award, which is Fall semester.
Financial need.
Must have earned a minimum of 3 credit hours of Women’s Studies course.
To be considered for this Award, a Student must Submit:

Resume.
Biographical essay that includes educational background, reason for applying for the award, explanation of how the student’s career goal will advance women’s place in society.
Financial need statement. (one paragraph)
An unofficial FIU transcript reflecting all course work completed.
One letter of recommendation from an FIU professor.
Application Deadline:
Application deadline is Friday, February 22, 2008. Applications must be received at 5pm in DM 212, Women’s Studies, Miami, FIU 33199.
