About Us

The Florida International University Police Department is located in the Tower Building at University Park Campus and in the SO II Building at Biscayne Bay Campus. We provide a full range of public services to the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week on both campuses. The State of Florida certifies all university police officers after completing minimum standards training as set forth by Florida State Statute.

General services provided by the FIU Police Department include: vehicle, and foot patrol, criminal investigation of misdemeanors and felonies, traffic enforcement, traffic crash investigation, special events management, and crime prevention programs. It has a patrol unit, an investigative unit, a communications unit, and a crime prevention unit.

The FIU Police Department has an excellent working relationship with local law enforcement agencies, which assures the delivery of professional police services. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and other state and federal agencies are available to assist upon request. Communication and coordination with all area law enforcement agencies is maintained on a 24-hour basis via computer networks such as the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
