Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 12:15 in GL 100A. We will treat each session as two classes: 9:30 to 10:45, and 11:00 to 12:15, with a fifteen minute break in between. Class starts promptly at 11:00 after the break. |

Required Text Thompson, Peter (2005): Principles of Microeconomics. Manuscript, Florida International University. |

Exams There will be three open-book exams. Two mid-terms will be held at the following times and dates: |
|
Thursday 22 May, 9:30 - 10:45. Tuesday 3 June, 9:30-10:45. Note that we will take a fifteen-minute break after each exam, and then resume class. |
| The final exam is in class on Thursday 19 June, 9:30:11:30. |
| The first mid-term accounts for 25% of the grade; the second mid-term accounts for 30%; and the final is 45% |
| So you can get a clear picture of what these exams are like. Here is a copy of 2005's first mid-term exam, and here is a copy of 2005's final exam. |
| Problem Sets |
|
Each chapter of the text has a problem set at the end. You are expected to complete these in the same week that we cover the material. However, I will not be collecting problem sets, and I will not be grading them. Answers and hints to answers for many of the problems are in the back of the text. You may meet with me to discuss if your answers are on the right track. There is an important incentive for you to stay on top of this material: the exams will consist largely of close variations of these questions. If you do not seriously attempt the problem sets in a timely fashion, and if you do not show up to the exams with completed problem sets, you will almost certainly fail the course. On the other hand, if you take the problem sets seriously, you will likely get a very good grade.
