THOMAS K. HAGOOD, Ph.D: BS – Dance, SUNY Brockport; MA – Modern Dance, University of Utah; PhD – Dance, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Associate Professor and Director of Dance at the Florida International University. From 1994-1997 Dr. Hagood directed the BFA dance program at the Wichita State University, Wichita, KS., and from 1997-2001 was Director of Graduate Studies in Dance (MA and MFA) at Mills College, Oakland, CA. Dr. Hagood’s original research has appeared in such journals as Dance Research Journal, Arts Education Policy Review and IMPULSE: The International Journal of Dance Science, Medicine and Education. He is author of A History of Dance in American Higher Education: Dance and the American University (Mellen Press: 2000) and co-editor of the anthology Margaret H'Doubler: The Legacy of America's Dance Education Pioneer (Cambria Press: 2007). Past-President of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), Dr. Hagood served as Project Co-Chair with Dr. Jane Bonbright for the NDEO’s Research in Dance Education project, a three-year research endeavor funded in part by a $673,000.00 grant from the US Department of Education; Office of Education Research and Improvement. LESLIE NEAL, MFA: Associate
Professor Neal received a B.S.Ed. in Dance from the University of
Georgia and a M.F.A. in Dance from Florida State University. She has
been an active member of the Miami dance community since 1981. Leslie
is recipient of three Individual Artists Fellowships in Choreography
from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs: 1982, 1987, and 1993.
Ms. Neal's work has been performed throughout Florida and the Southeast.
She is Artistic Director of ArtSpring, Inc., a not-for-profit
501(c)(3) arts organization based in South Florida whose mission is
to support self-growth and effective life skills through art-making
for underserved and institutionalized women and girls. In 1997 Leslie
was chosen to serve as an artist-in-residence for the National Endowment
of the Arts at the Federal Correctional Institution for women in Tallahassee,
Florida. |

GARY LUND, BFA -
Dance, New World School of the Arts; M.M. - Performing Arts Production
and Management, Florida International University. Mr. Lund is currently
Resident Artist and Instructor in dance at FIU, and has had an extensive
professional career in dance, performing in choreographies by Hanya
Holm, Ted Shawn, Doris Humphrey, Ana Sokolow, Murray Louis, Viola Farber,
Don Redlich, Nancy Hauser, Robbie Barnett, Martha Clarke and Jamie Cunningham.
Mr. Lund has served as artisitic director of Short Subjects, Two’s Company, Glenn Lund Dance, Movement Initiated Sound Effects, DanceWave, and is currently with Anchor Arts Management. Mr. Lund had the privilege of being the rehearsal/tour director and performer with Men Dancer’s: The Ted Shawn Legacy, presented by Jacob’s Pillow. Men Dancer’s: The Ted Shawn Legacy, celebrating the centennial birth year of Ted Shawn, included a three year international tour. Mr. Lund was a co-founder of the White Mountains Summer Dance Festival and has presented many dance concerts throughout his career. He is broadening his creative endeavors to include lighting design for dance. |

ANDREA MANTELL-SEIDEL, DA - New York University School of Education. Associate Professor and founding director of Florida International University’s Intercultural Dance and Music Institute housed in the Latin American and Caribbean Center. She is the artistic director of the critically acclaimed Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble and trustee of Eleanor King’s choreographic legacy. Dr. Seidel has lectured and performed at major international festivals, conferences, and institutions throughout the US, Canada, Russia, Latin America, Asia and Europe, including the Kennedy Center, International Tanzfestival in Germany, International Goethe Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, and International Festival de las Mujeres en la Danza, Ecuador. She holds a doctorate in dance from New York University, an MA from McGill University, Montreal in English literature, and is the recipient of over seventy grants, including a three-year innovative curriculum reform grant (Dancing Across Disciplines) from the US Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education. Dr. Seidel’s main area of study and research, in addition, to her work in historic modern dance reconstruction, has been on sacred dance, myth, and ritual in indigenous cultures. She is co-producer of the videotape/DVD Isadora Duncan Dance: Technique and Repertory widely distributed by Princeton Book Company and is currently producing and editing two educational DVD’s, Masterworks of Isadora Duncan and An Evening with Katherine Dunham. | |

AUGUSTO SOLEDADE, MFA - SUNY, College at Brockport. A native of Bahia, Brazil, Augusto is a performer, choreographer and serves as Assistant Professor of Dance at FIU, joining the faculty in 2004. Augusto is founder and Artistic Director of Brazz Dance Theater. From 2000 to 2004, Augusto was Visiting Assistant Professor and Graduate Advisor in Dance at Smith College, Northhampton, Massachusetts. Augusto has also served on the dance faculties of the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Wells College, New York. and the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York. While at Brockport, Augusto was awarded the 1998 Pylyshenko-Strasser Graduate Dance Award, and was a finalist in dance for the 1998 Thayer Fellowship. Augusto has been awarded grants from the Northampton Arts Council and Smith College. | |

ANA GONZALEZ, BFA - University of South Florida. A native of Miami, Ana began her professional career as a soloist with the Charleston Ballet Theatre. In 1996 she moved to New York City where she performed and taught as a member of the internationally acclaimed Stephen Petronio Company. Ana has also worked with Jamie Bishton Dance, Ben Munisteri Dance Projects and Doug Varone and Dancers. Ana is a Visiting Instructor in Dance at Florida International University, specializing in ballet pedagogy and contemporary choreography. She is delighted to be back in Miami with her family, husband, and new dog, Sunshine. | |
