SAGSA
Sociology & Anthropology Graduate Student Association
SAGSA's mission is to promote Soc/Ant graduate students' professional development and well-being. We hold bi-weekly meetings and plan activities to enhance professionalism, increase collegiality, and provide opportunities for interaction with faculty. Our strength is in the diverse experiences of our members, which allows us to learn from each other. All Soc/Ant graduate students are welcome to attend meetings and activities.
Some of our 2004-2005 activities were: workshops on using census data in research papers and on thesis/dissertation writing; panel discussions on securing funding and on career paths for sociology and anthropology; a department picnic, and a Holiday party. In addition we worked with faculty during the process of curriculum and program changes that will be instituted in 2005-2006.
In the coming year we look forward to a stimulating series of colloquia planned jointly with faculty, continuing our workshops on graduate student professional development, and building department collegiality.
