The Florida International University School of Architecture is at its core an interdisciplinary confederation of strong design disciplines dedicated to the education of expressive, innovative, critical and knowledgeable young professionals. The School of Architecture is also an integral part the College of Architecture + The Arts and is dedicated to collegial and exciting trans-disciplinary opportunities with the visual arts, performing arts, museums and design communities. The disciplines within School of Architecture are committed to professional education while seeking to reach across boundaries to encourage collaboration and research to service academic and societal community of South Florida.

The school provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in all disciplines and has received accreditation in each of the principal design disciplines of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture. Each one of the professional curricula coursework centers around four areas of study beyond the university general educational core curriculum. Those areas are history/theory, environmental technologies, professional practice / business knowledge and design studio. The design studio course work provides problem driven assignments with performance evaluated assessments that are the spine of all professional design programs.

Our students are problem solvers, creative thinkers and ethical participants in one of the most exhilarating educational models in the academy. They are joined by a productive and enlightened faculty that both challenge and are challenged by direct exchange with students. Intellectual rigor, aesthetic excellence and exploratory innovation fuel lively discussions as well and public presentation and exhibition of student, faculty and professional work.

The design disciplines demand small classes with task oriented problems in environments where students have dedicated desks and unlimited access. It is a unique and powerful educational experience for all involved. The School of Architecture also enjoys the best studio spaces in the region with gallery, workshop, lecture hall and advanced technologies laboratory to support the educational objectives.

Designers are always collaborators and occasionally leaders in the development of our physical environment. The educational agenda within School of Architecture provides important leadership opportunities for both students and faculty concerning planning, innovating and sustaining our built environment. Being the only tropical Sub-tropical urban regions in the continental US, South Florida is one of the most important emerging urban environments in the world, with expanding growth and maturity there is a great deal of work to be done.

Join us in what we feel is the most exciting of places.

Thank you
