  • AoA Town Hall Listening Sessions in 2003 Session listened to older people, their families and caregivers, along with members of the Aging Services Network. Past sessions: Miami Beach, FL 1/31; Chicago, IL 3/15; Orange County, CA 4/23, Baltimore, MD 7/16.
    • Oral Testimony provided by Center staff Heidi Siver, PhD, RD, CNSD, addressed nutrition issues. Key points: help integrate AoA funded services into home and community-based services (HCBS) by including nutrition services for older adults and their caregivers; recommended that the aging network continue providing the full array of nutrition services (meals, nutrition screening, education, and counseling) in adult day programs; emphasized the need for outcomes research to identify the best types of nutrition interventions for caregivers. The quality of HCBS and the health and quality of life of caregivers and older adults can be improved and health care expenditures can be reduced by increasing access to nutrition services. The Center will facilitate testimony for future Town Hall Listening Sessions. (2/05/03)
