We need:
MATERIALS
- Photocopier. We need to be able to photocopy class materials for our students.
- Van. Abaco is a large, long island and we need to be able to transport our students to and from the school, to better serve them.
- Books. Children's books, reference books
(1980+ encyclopedias or Encarta CDs, dictionaries, thesauri), sets of
10 same-title early reader books for Family Literacy initiative
- Art Supplies. Paint, brushes, crayons, clay,
construction paper, scissors, glue, markers
- Equipment. Tape recorders, listening
stations, overhead projectors, computers (PC (Pentium+) or Apple (IIE or
above), educational soft/hardware, GeoSafari, Leapfrog
- Teaching Kits/Posters. Mathematics
manipulatives, puzzles, learning games, hands-on science experiments, SRA
kits, RSVP word recognition kits, teaching wall-posters, educational
videotapes
BUILDINGS
We need philanthropists willing to fund (or actually
help build) facilities that will enable us to do what we are able to
do. We need...
- Classrooms, Multi-Purpose Gym
- Teachers' Residences.
CONSULTANTS/TEACHERS
- Volunteer consultants who will provide direct
training, classroom demonstrations
- Sabbatical teachers, student teachers
who will relocate to teach and train in the Bahamas for a time
