Critical Language Scholarships
- Language Scholarships
Eligibility: Students and recent graduates in all disciplines.
Subject: Intensive overseas study in Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese,
Hindi, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.
Award: Summer of 2008, 7 weeks to 11 weeks, includes travel, tuition,
and other costs.

Pickering
Foreign Affairs (Undergraduate) Fellowship - Undergraduate Scholarship
Eligibility: Sophomores. Women, members of minority groups historically
underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial
need are encouraged to apply.
Award: Junior and senior years of college and first year of graduate
study, with financial support for the second year based on need (tuition,
room, board, and fees). Two internships, one overseas and one at the
Department of State, with stipend. Obligated to a minimum of four and
a half years' service in an appointment as a Foreign Service Officer.
Deadline: Applications are due February 8, 2008.
Pickering
Graduate Fellowship for Master's Degree - Pickering Graduate Fellowship
Eligibility: Seniors and alumni. Women, members of minority groups historically
underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial
need are encouraged to apply.
Award: Two-year master's degree programs in public policy, international
affairs, public administration, or academic fields such as business,
economics, political science, sociology, or foreign languages (tuition,
room, board, and fees). Two internships, one overseas and one at the
Department of State, with stipend. Obligated to a minimum of three years'
service in an appointment as a Foreign Service Officer.
Deadline: Applications are due February 4, 2008.
Rangel Graduate
Fellowship for Master's Degree - Rangel Graduate Fellowship
Eligibility: Seniors or recent graduates with at least a 3.2/4.0 GPA
studying economics, history, business administration, foreign languages,
or already employed in an international affairs-related job. Women,
members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign
Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. U.S.citizen.
Award: Two-year master's degree programs in international affairs or
another area of relevance to the work of the Foreign Service (such as
public administration, public policy, business administration, foreign
languages, economics, political science, communications) (covers tuition,
room, board, and fees). Two internships, one overseas and one in Congress,
with stipends. Obligated to a minimum of three years' service in an
appointment as a Foreign Service Officer.
Deadline: Applications are due January 25, 2008.
Rangel International
Affairs Summer Program in Washington, D.C. - Summer Institute
Eligibility: Sophomores with at least a 3.2/4.0 GPA. Freshmen with outstanding
academic backgrounds and significant international experience. Women,
members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign
Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. U.S.citizen.
Award: Washington, D.C. six-week program in international affairs (tuition,
travel, room and board, and stipend).
Deadline: Applications are due February 15, 2008.
United
Negro College Fund Special Programs - UNCFSP Program
Eligibility: Sophomores with at least a 3.2/4.0 GPA. Freshmen with outstanding
academic backgrounds and significant international experience. Women,
members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign
Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. U.S.citizen.
Award: Winners participate in a Sophomore Year Summer Policy Institute,
Junior Year Abroad, Junior Year Summer Policy Institute, Internships,
Junior Year, Senior Year, Post-Baccalaureate, Senior Language Institute,
and a Master's Degree Program in International Affairs.
Deadline: Applications are due March 15, 2008.
