Citizenship Studies
The Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy &
Citizenship Studies was founded in 1985 to provide
learning opportunities in public policy, national
security studies and citizenship studies to FIU
students, faculty and the South Florida community.
Its objectives are to provide non-traditional
educational opportunities on the responsibilities
and opportunities of citizenship, to assist students
and faculty in understanding the impact of public
policy and national security on lives and careers, to
promote interdisciplinary research efforts, and to
encourage joint University and community efforts
on transnational policy issues. The Institute is one
