There are over 100 registered
student organizations on campus that provide students with
a wide variety of clubs to choose from. They vary from
social, to service, athletics and cultural organizations.
Students are also encouraged to initiate and start
new organizations that will meet their needs and further the
university's mission of educating the "total" student.
As a member of these organizations you will learn more about
leadership, communication, time management, networking and
assertiveness, just to mention a few! The more you
become involved in these organizations, the more valuable
your college experience will become.

These honor societies
enhance student creativity and personal growth, affording
students the opportunity to augment their formal education
with experiences outside the classroom.

Greek
Organizations: Currently, there are 20 social fraternities
and sororities at FIU. They are divided into the three governing
councils mentioned below. The first chapter, Phi Beta
Sigma, was established in the early 1980s. It was the
first Black Greek chapter, and led to the founding of a National
Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) at FIU. Phi Sigma Sigma, in 1984,
was the first women's sorority. The Panhellenic Council
(PC) soon followed to govern the women's groups. Sigma
Phi Epsilon, in 1985, became the first men's fraternity that
would constitute the Inter-fraternity Council (IFC).
Joining a fraternity or sorority has been an extremely positive
experience for the millions of members involved since 1776;
and for the hundreds of FIU Greek alumni since 1984!

FIU
Alumni Association: The
Student Alumni Association (SAA) is a chapter of the FIU Alumni
Association and promotes student involvement in the University
by providing services, programming and special events for
its student members. SAA strives to further the quality of
the University as an institution of higher education and fosters
continued pride, loyalty and tradition. SAA promotes the interests
of, and understanding between, the students of the past, present
and future, while enhancing the education of students and
preparing them to serve as future alumni leaders.
SAA members
attend alumni events, including networking receptions and
promote many campus activities, such as Homecoming, Graduate
Send-Off, and athletic events (football!). This is a great
opportunity to network with FIU Alumni and open up connections
for the future.
