FIU Radio Station:

Florida International University has its official FM radio: Radiate 88.  Radiate 88 has been broadcasting the best college music since its inception in 1989. Feel free to check out the radio's top 35 and get to know our staff a little better by visiting the Radiate 88 website.

International Hurricane Center:

The goal of the International Hurricane Center (IHC) at Florida International University (FIU) is to promote a multi-disciplinary research mission focused on mitigation of hurricane damage to people, the economy, and the built and natural environments. The long-term objective is to help the State of Florida, other vulnerable U.S. East Coast and Gulf states, and the nations of the Caribbean and Central America reduce the human and property losses regularly inflicted by hurricanes.

As a Type I center of the State University System (SUS) of Florida (thereby being able to draw on the resources of all Florida public universities) and located on the same university campus as NOAA's National Hurricane Center, the IHC is uniquely positioned to provide the research, training, and outreach needed to reduce hurricane losses at the local, state, regional, and international levels.

Among its services, the IHC:

  • Provides comprehensive forecasts of potential hurricane impacts
  • Contributes to the community's preparedness planning
  • Conducts both basic and applied research

To learn more about the IHC's local and global activities please visit the center's website.
FIU has also developed another website with current hurricane and weather information.
