This program is designed for individuals who wish to
become certified to teach physical education in the
elementary and middle, and secondary schools. Upon
successful completion of the program and the
requirements specified by the Florida Department of
Education, degree recipients are eligible for regular
teacher certification in the State of Florida. Students
entering the College of Education, Fall 2001 and beyond,
must pass all sections of the Florida Teacher Certification
Exam to graduate.
To qualify for admission to the programs, undergraduate
candidates must have met all the lower division
requirements including: 60 credit hours of lower-division
courses, all general education requirements, lower-division
GPA of 2.5 or higher, and passing scores on all four parts
of the CLAST Exam.
All stated admission requirements are to be considered
minimum. A student who meets these minimum
requirements is not automatically assured admission.

is the responsibility of the student to assure that he/she
has met the requirements.

Applications for student teaching are due in the office of
the Director of Student Teaching by July 1 for Spring
semester placement, and by February 1 for Fall semester
placement.
Graduation Requirements
In the College of Education, all undergraduate students
are required to meet the following requirements before
they can graduate from their respective teacher education
programs.
- An overall GPA of 2.5
- Successful demonstration of all the Florida Educator
Accomplished Practices - preprofessional level
- Passing scores on the three tests that make up the
Florida Teacher Certification Exam.
For students who passed the CLAST prior to July 1,
