ANNUAL CONVOCATION STUDENT CONTEST
Submission Deadline: October 03, 2008

The time has come once again to enter The Annual Honors College Convocation contest. The Annual Honors College Convocation contest is a showcase of student and faculty projects that exemplify excellence. All Honors College students are encouraged to submit work produced within or outside the College.

Application Process

  1. All entries should be submitted to Sachin Gursahani no later than 5:00 pm on October 3, 2008.
  2. Entries are limited to three per category. However, the entrant can participate in any number of categories.
  3. Names / Categories must be clearly printed on the application form only. Entries without names / categories will be disqualified.
  4. Download the application at http://www.fiu.edu/~honors/convocation.

Categories & Guidelines
Creative Writing (poetry, creative prose, short stories, essay etc)

  1. All entries in this category must be submitted electronically to gursahan@fiu.edu with the email subject being the title of your work.

Art (2-D, 3-D, photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures etc)

  1. Photograph entries must be framed and/or matted (exhibition ready). Digital photo files will not be accepted.
  2. Art work submitted must be display ready. Use tag board, mat board, poster board, or construction paper for matting. Frames must be simple and sturdy.
  3. Entrants submitting art-work and other unwieldy items will be responsible for transporting such works to and from the Graham Center Ballroom on Convocation Day to ensure its safety and proper setup.

Audio-Visual (audio, video, multi-media, website design etc)

  1. Entries must be submitted on a CD (music / mp3 format)

Miscellaneous

  1. If you entry does not fit one of the above categories, please speak with Sachin Gursahani as all other creative projects will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

*All entries must be picked up from the GC ballrooms immediately following the Convocation reception. The Honors College will not be held responsible for lost, stolen or discarded items.
