Research interests:

Professor Kahan’s recent research focuses on the comparative history of liberalism and conservatism in nineteenth century Europe, with emphasis on England, France and Germany. He is a recognized specialist on Alexis de Toqueville and author and editor of numerous books and an active participant in national and international professional organizations. He is presently writing a book on the impact of money on American society.
