In the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs, course work and activities in the University's social studies program have been infused with a global dimension. All undergraduates in social studies are required to take global courses in their content concentration. World regional geography and non-Western history are required of each student for graduation. Students are encouraged to enroll in other courses dealing with multinational corporations, the new economic order, international human rights, and world politics. During the student teaching experience, each student must teach classroom lessons that are organized around the R. Hanvey model of global education and a configuration of five global concepts: change, conflict, communication, culture, and interdependence. Student teachers are carefully placed with cooperating teachers who have been trained in global education. |
