Masters of Science in Exceptional Student Education (M.S.)

 

Program Description

The Department of Educational and Psychological Studies offers an advanced Master’s program in Special Education for students who hold an undergraduate degree in special education. The program represents and extension an refinement of knowledge and skills developed in an undergraduate special education program.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission to the program, students must have the following:

  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher in junior and senior years
  • A valid Florida Teaching Certificate in special education (if applicant does not hold a valid FL teaching certificate, all certification requirement in addition to degree requirements must be met.)
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one from an academic sources and one from work or volunteer experiences
  • Well written autobiographical statement.

Program of Study

This program is a total of 36 credits. It has a common core of 27 credits in advanced areas of special education, plus a choice of 9 credits of electives in an area of concentration that is planned and approved by student and advisor.

Area of concentration: 9 credits

Area of concentration may be selected from an endorsement such as Gifted, ESOL, or as planned and approved by student and advisor.
