First
Annual
Faculty
Development in International Business (FDIB)
Mumbai
and Bangalore, India
Dec 28, 2008 - Jan 4,
2009
INDIA INC.
India’s colossal economy is intrinsically dynamic
and innovative. In today’s globalized and interdependent
economy, innovation is recognized as an essential engine
of growth and India is seen as a top global player.
India’s growth rate will near 8% in 2008 despite
the global slowdown, but its resilience is being put
to the test by the energy crisis affecting most of the
industrialized world.
The program is designed for faculty
interested in pursuing their interests in the Indian
business environment. Participants will experience first
hand how multinationals and leading Indian companies
are riding the downfall, while simultaneously reshaping
the Indian business environment resulting in a competitive
INDIA INC.
The program
will take place in Mumbai and Bangalore, two of the
most advanced and business forward cities throughout
India. In Mumbai, the participants will visit top multinational
companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Siemens, Phillips
and leading Indian firms like the Tata Group, Godrej
or Mahindras. In contrast, Bangalore, known as the Silicon
Valley of India, offers participants an opportunity
to visit software companies such as Emphasis, IBM and
Microsoft, as well as take part in lectures by leading
academic experts from The Indian Institute of Management
(IIM).
