Lower Division

Upper Division

1000 and 2000 level courses are called “Lower Division” and are usually taken during your Freshman and Sophomore year.

3000 and 4000 level courses are called “Upper Division” and are usually taken during your Junior and Senior year.

Note: Many Colleges and Universities around the nation number Upper and Lower division courses differently.  One typical variation is to label Lower division courses as 100 or 200 while the Upper division is designated with 300 or 400.
