Organizations send representatives to Career Fairs for multiple reasons. Whether it is to assess the quality of the student body or to meet with students in an informal setting, the Expo is a valuable part of an organization's recruiting strategy.

Hiring decisions are seldom made solely on this initial meeting. However, a successful Career Fair experience can confirm the importance of returning to the campus for the next step in the recruitment process, the on-campus interview.

For students, the Career Fair offers an opportunity to learn more about a specific company or industry. In addition, it is an excellent way to network. Frequently, company representatives at Career Fairs are also the individuals conducting on-campus interviews. Students who have met their interviewers at the Fair enter the initial interview armed with a toolbox of information about the organization and their internship or career opportunities.
