College Business Senior Seminar Series
The Senior Seminar

What
is the purpose of the Series?
To prepare
graduating seniors from the College
of Business
for the transition from student to worker/employee.
The seminars will focus on improving
the basic skills graduating students will need
in order to increase the likelihood that they
will be successful in obtaining the career of
their choice. This will include sessions on
Interviewing Skills, Resume Writing and Workplace
Ethics. In addition, the series will offer the
students an opportunity to take a self assessment
tests. At the completion of the seminar series, all
those who participants will receive a certificate.
Who
should attend?
All College
of Business Seniors
graduating in 2006

Building,
rooms 115-125
Dates
and Time:
March 2005, 13th
-15th from 5-8pm and the 16th from 6-9pm
Facilitators:
Career Services Consultants,
College
of Business Faculty
and employers from the community.
How
to Register Students:
Students interested in participating
in the seminars must sign up through the Career
Services website-calendar link. *Students should verify with Career Services
to ensure that they are register, if not; they
must register prior to signing up for the seminars.

Seminar
Schedule
Day
1
Self Assessment
and Graduate
School
Options
Students will take a self assessment
which will then be given back in the following
evening seminar.
In addition, the students will be given
a workshop on Graduate
School
vs. direct employment post graduation.
Day 2
Resume Writing
Students will be given a workshop
on the different styles of resumes and the components
that make one up. Prior to this session, students
will be asked to bring their resume for a critique
after the workshop.
Day 3
Interviewing
Skills
This workshop will introduce
the basic skills needed before, during and after
an interview.
Day 4
Workplace
Ethics
This workshop will teach
students some of the basic ground rules when
joining the workforce like; dating, harassment/discrimination,
and workplace policies.
*each
night, the students will be given a 20 minutes
break for snack and refreshments
In
order to receive the certificate of completion
all participants must attend all four days.
