Academic Credit
While
Florida International University does award
academic credit for internships, the requirements
and procedures vary among the academic colleges
and departments. Some departments award up to
3 credits for an internship while others do
not award any academic credit.
Whether or not a student receives academic
credit varies among the different academic departments.
When academic credit is awarded, typically the
internship counts as elective credit that is
not required for degree completion.
Students that receive academic credit need
the employer's cooperation in the following
areas:
- Development of learning objectives
- Supervisory evaluation of the intern
- Completion of the feedback
form providing us with information about
the intern hired
Most academic departments require a student
to review their internship experiences by writing
a 10-15 page paper.
