The Kelly Foundation Tropical Botany Scholarship at FIU, 07-08

Mr. Loyd Kelly, through the Kelly Foundation, has established an endowment to provide scholarships in tropical botany at FIU.  Mr. Kelly has had a life-long fascination for tropical plants and wishes to encourage their study by deserving students.  The scholarship is meant to help undergraduate majors in the Department of Biological Sciences who are interested in tropical botany.  Students applying for this scholarship must have a GPA of 3.0 or better with a demonstrated interest in the scientific study of tropical plants.  This year we will offer up to 3 scholarships of $1000-$4000.  You can apply by writing a letter documenting your interest in tropical botany and your career goals.  You should append a brief resume providing some educational and personal background to the letter.  The deadline for applications is 5 PM, Friday, 20 April, 2007.

Applications should be sent to

The Kelly Foundation Tropical Botany Scholarship Committee,
c/o Dr. Jennifer Richards
