Coach Gwydir on Nicole: “There are certain people on a team who are special and make you different than other teams. Nicole has the potential to be one of those people. She’s a lefty and a natural hitter. She’s also incredibly fast. Defensively, she covers substantial ground in the outfield. Last year she made some catches in foul territory that saved games. This year she wants to show everyone what a great players she is. When other teams prepare for FIU, they are going to prepare for Nicole.”

2002: Set a school single-season record with 30 stolen bases…Played in 72 games, starting 71…Was second on the team with a .298 batting average (61-for-205)…Tied for second with 26 runs scored…Connected for three extra-base hits – all doubles…Led the team with 14 sacrifice hits…Had 14 multiple-hit games…In league contests, led the squad with a .432 batting average (16-for-37) and 11 stolen bases…Batted 3-for-3 at Western Kentucky (4/5)…Went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base vs. New Mexico State (4/14)…Batted 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored vs. Illinois-Chicago (3/17).
