Tuesday, April 2, 2003 FIU Football practice looks ahead to Saturday scrimmage
The Golden Panthers worked out in full pads today, and will again tomorrow, in preparation for Saturday’s scrimmage, the first of two that will be played at FIU Stadium on the University Park campus. On Wednesday during team drills, head coach Don Strock had his defense work on blitz packages and put in new offensive plays for inside the red zone. “Their heads are spinning a little bit today but this should provide some real good film to watch and make corrections on,” said Strock. “Tomorrow we’ll come out and basically do the same things as we did today,” he said. “We’ll go first down, second down, third down and move the ball up and down the field, simulating a game situation, so we don’t look too shabby on Saturday.” On the injury front, wide receiver Andre Rollins (Miami/Carol City) continues to sit after suffering a right foot sprain and offensive lineman Ed Leverenz (Sanford, Fla.) was sidelined with a left shoulder sprain. Wednesday’s practice was the seventh of 15 sessions
that will conclude on Saturday, April 12 with the Blue/Gold Scrimmage
at FIU Stadium. All practices are open to the public. |
