FIU’s Rivera, Pullin honored as Freshman All-Americans

The Florida International baseball team saw two of its members honored Thursday, as freshmen Luis Rivera and Bryan Pullin were included on the 2003 “Louisville Slugger’s” Freshman All-American team as chosen by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Rivera, the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, led the team with 83 hits and 15 doubles. The shortstop from Carolina, Puerto Rico batted .337, knocked in 41 runs and stole 14 bases. He also led the team in at-bats and games played.

Pullin (Sunrise, Fla./American Heritage) batted .322 as the team’s primary designated hitter. He finished the year with 23 RBI, eight doubles, 48 hits and 59 total bases on his way toward being voted first-team all-Sun Belt Conference.
